SREBThis week should be a pretty interesting week as we start the sixth week of the legislative session. On Tuesday, the House Education Committee meets with a special speaker. Dr. Andy Baxter, Vice-President for Teacher Effectiveness from the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB). If you look at the agenda, you will also notice that quite a few bills are being added to the House Education Committee’s agenda. These bills range from program eligibility for the Arkansas Better Chance Program to amending the teacher licensure law for non-traditional applicants. We will keep you posted on these bills and other issues as they come up. Or, don’t forget you can watch a LIVE STREAM of the House Education Committee meeting starting at 10:00 AM.

got-choiceThen on Wednesday, the Senate Education Committee will be meeting. The posted agenda contains two bills (SB 33 authored by Sen Johnny Key, R-Mountain Home, and  the SB 114 authored by Sen. Joyce Elliot, D-Little Rock), both set to Amend Arkansas’ public school choice law.  We will keep you updated as new developments occur.
