OEP Awards: High Achieving Elementary Schools

In The View from the OEP on October 3, 2012 at 12:04 pm

This week we are releasing the next installment of the OEP Awards: High Achieving Elementary Schools.  This section of the report provides a deeper look at the high achieving elementary schools and grades within schools based on the Arkansas Benchmark exams administered to students in grades 3-8 in April 2012.

The tables in this section of the report present the high achieving schools for the noted grade and subject. These tables also include the region in which the school is located, the number of test takers, the percent of students scoring at the proficient and advanced levels, and the GPA of the school in that particular subject. Because we already listed our overall top performing elementary schools in Section I of the OEP Awards, we move directly into listing the top performing elementary schools by grade. We then highlight the top performing elementary schools and grades within schools in each region.

Thus, today we say thee yay! to the Academy of Technology (Vilonia SD) and Gillett Elementary School (DeWitt SD) for earning 4.0 GPA’s in grade 3 math benchmark performance (with 100% of the grade 3 students scoring at the advanced level on the math benchmark exam).

Regarding literacy performance, we say thee yay! to Hardin Elementary School (White Hall SD) for their grade 3 students earning a 3.94 GPA on the benchmark literacy exam (and having 100% of their students scoring at the proficient or advanced level on the same test), Forrest Park Elementary School (Little Rock SD) for their grade 4 students earning a 3.93 GPA on the benchmark literacy exam (and having 100% of their students scoring at the proficient or advanced level on the same test), and lastly the grade 5 students at Arnold Drive Elementary School (Pulaski County Special SD) for earning a 3.92 GPA on the benchmark literacy exam (and having 100% of their students scoring at the proficient or advanced level on the same test).

These are a tiny fraction of the MANY schools recognized among Arkansas’ High Achieving Elementary Schools. See if your school or a grade level in your school is recognized in the OEP Awards by reading the FULL REPORT here.
