ADE’s Strategic Plan

In The View from the OEP on October 10, 2011 at 12:08 pm

Today at the Arkansas State Board of Education meeting, Dr. Kimbrell presented the strategic plan for the Arkansas Department of Education. He outlined four major goals under which projects are being developed. He threw out some pretty innovative ideas about low-performing schools and teacher effectiveness. The gist of his statements centered on four goals that the ADE leadership has developed. The goals are listed below:

Goal #1: Developing learning standards that are high quality and rigorous and will prepare our students for college and careers.

Goal #2: Developing an effective plan to turnaround the lowest performing schools

Goal #3: Developing effective educators, and a mechanism by which the removal of ineffective individuals from classrooms, facilities, and central offices can occur.

Goal #4: Partnering with others in the state to build strong communities and a strong Arkansas public education system
