An Active Week in Arkansas Ed Policy

It’s been a lively week in Arkansas Ed Policy world. The state board was busy on Friday with open-enrollment and conversion charter school applications. Amendments to Lighthouse Charter School in Jacksonville were approved, Cross County New Tech High was approved as a conversion; and SAI Tech in Little Rock was approved with some stipulations.  The amendments to the Osceola Communication Art Business Charter School were approved, but reps from the school will be back in March to face possible revocation or probation of their charter.

Starting today, there are quite a few ed bills on the agenda at the State Capitol. Some of these bills include: providing an income tax credit for education expenses of dependents as well as a back to school tax-free holiday for Arkansas parents.
